Meet Our Co-Founder, Sarah

Spread the love

Sarah Lisson is a registered dietitian, food blogger, and one of the co-founders of The Food Memory Project alongside her mom, Lisa. In a way, this has been a lifelong project- Sarah has always had an uncanny ability to remember almost any event in her life based on what she ate, from her chef-themed 9th birthday party to the dishes she cooked for a grade in college.

Sarah has been a foodie since the very beginning. She loved helping her parents in the kitchen (and playing in her plastic one), and she read cookbooks from cover to cover as if they were novels. In grad school she volunteered as a sensory panelist for the food science department and taste-tested lots of vegetables in the name of science. More recently, she signed up to be a cross-tester for America’s Test Kitchen, providing feedback on recipes before publication.

Sarah also loves to travel and enjoys the challenge of finding the best local food wherever she goes. New York City is one of her favorite places in the world, and no trip there is complete without a cookie from Levain Bakery! In fact, she’s such a fan that she set out to recreate the iconic dessert at home (with great success).

One of Sarah’s favorite food memories is of a simple yet special dinner she would make every time she visited her grandparents: fried pork tenderloin medallions sandwiched between biscuits made from a boxed mix. Sarah took her job as head biscuit-maker very seriously. After all of the biscuits had been cut, the leftover dough was sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and rolled into “pinwheels” for dessert. The meal was always a highlight of her visits!
